REPORTS FROM DORSET COUNCILLOR, POLICE OFFICER, RIVER WARDEN AND FOOTPATHS OFFICER

DORSET COUNCILLOR
Cllr Craig Monks introduced himself and talked about how he hopes to support the village. He hopes to be able to attend every meeting and to be available to the residents. In addition, he will be holding monthly meetings around the area and will always be available on email at cllrcraig.monks@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk.

POLICE OFFICER
On Sunday 2nd June, we had a report of a suspicious vehicle, which ended up stuck in a field. It was thought the males with the vehicle were looking to steal items, but there is nothing to suggest this is the case; however, I advise vigilance and to check security. If anyone is concerned about their security, please contact me for further advice. For information, I will be at the coffee morning on 29th June.

RIVER WARDEN
There was nothing to report.

FOOTPATHS OFFICER
It was reported that there is no additional money for repairs in Langmoor Lane with no update regarding the Capital Grant Money. On Bailey’s Lane the bridleway across the dam should reopen in November but we are awaiting further information.

MATTERS OF REPORT AND ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

a) Chairman
Cllr Richard introduced our three councilors who each gave some information about themselves: Richard- has had a career in Secondary School Education and has skills in working with people. Robin- has had a career as a Political Adviser and is now in Business. He has skills in IT and with Community Resources. Tom- this is his 3rd Year as a Councillor for South Perrott. He is a Technology Programmer and has good practical skills.

The chair explained that moving forward our website will be updated by Tom. Co-option will take place in September and Councillors are looking for people who have complementary skills, can demonstrate an interest in working with the community and are willing to take on a particular role.

The Parish Council would like to raise awareness in the community about their role, perhaps through greater attendance at meetings or through better communication. It is Councillors’ intention to engage some younger people in the village to work alongside the River Warden and/or Footpaths Officer, or to take some responsibility for a particular issue.

b) Clerk
It was agreed that Councillors would take advantage of the training offered and the Clerk would send the details for the next training to Councillors. The Clerk also sent her thanks to Angela Gillingham for completing this year’s Annual Accounts.

c) Members
It was asked if the Parish Council could do anything with overgrown hedges, it was reported that some are hanging over roads and footpaths. This will be reported to Dorset Council and Cllr Craig Monks asked for residents to report any issues through the self-reporting system on the Dorset Council website.
